Those who remember the OLD Final Fantasy game (FF1) for the old school NES will enjoy this brand new colorful port. Final Fantasy Orgins (FFO) has two FF's in. The first is Final Fantasy which was the original Final Fantasy for the Nintendo 8-bit system. You picked 4 characters (fighter, thief, black mage, white mage, red mage, and monk) to start off with. Each character with their own abilities. The story for the first one is quiet linear, and unlike the FF's today, the story is not detailed nor deep. You are a band of 4 warriors known as the Light Warriors, in search to restore the four crystals. Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water from the four fiends. Battle system, items, and everything else left in tact. Final Fantasy has four major improvements to its orginal system. First off, it has been redone in wonderful graphics (like SNES style now), the music has been touched up a lot, you can buy items as in a group (those who remember you had to go to BUY, then POTION for each one til you got 99 potions), and FF now records all monsters and treasures you collected over the game. FF offers two modes, easy and normal. The game is slightly more difficult than its orginal one, it is still about the same. It's good to play Final Fantasy again. My only gripe is that when players "grow up" from proving their courage they are not super touched up like there were in the ordinal FF.

Now....Origins offer's something that wasn't released in the past for the old 8 bit system. Final Fantasy II is on this game as well. This is NOT the same Final Fantasy II that released for the SUPER NES!! It follows a similar format that of FF, but you play characters in a story. Four friends are attacked by an empire and are recruited by rebels to take them on. The combat system remains the same as well as the menuing system. One new thing unlike the first FF, is that your skills increase as you go. There is no experience in this FF. The more you use certain abilities, the higher that ability goes. Such as if you use your sword more often, you'll become skilled in that as well as attack power. If you get hit a lot, your defense and HP will go up. The same applies for magic and MP. FF2 is a great touch of its music and it's a beat you can enjoy. While I haven't dugged heavily deep into FF2, it offers the quiet a bit. The storyline is more developed in this one. However, graphically, it is not as detailed. FF2 has the same features of FF (items you've collected/monsters defeated).

All in all if you are avid fan of the original FF's (I was til FF3 for the SNES). Then you gotta give Origins a try.
