Dungeon Siege a slightly slower pace version of Diablo II. However, not as slow as the first Diablo. The game plays very similar to Diablo; however, the game is all in 3D and is done very well. Graphically overall, the game is very detailed. Trees, waterfalls, people, and backgrounds are in great detail. The story is similar that of Diablo 2 (although the main character doesn't know anything at first). Interaction wise, your main character doesn't talk (just like in Diablo 2). Even though your character doesn't talk the interaction is still pretty OK. Adventurers you run into that join your party will interact with you and tell you their plot (and sometimes give you a quest) and ask if they can join you. Afterwards, they don't say poop. This hurts the story somewhat, but is still understandable.

The game has a good tutorial and gives you good details on what to do. Dungeon Siege (DS) class system is almost like Diablo's. However, you do not pick what you want to be (aka a mage, warrior or such). You are given much more freedom. The game has 4 classes, if you want to put it, or skills that you can learn. You can be a warrior, archer, combat mage, or nature mage. How you want to be is up to you. If you use the sword most of the time, your strength and health will increase the most.

If you are an archer, dexterity and speed will be the prime stat. If you are combat mage (attack), or a nature mage(healer) intellect and magic will be the prime stat. Overall, you'll find a total of 9-12 people that will join in your quest. You don't need that many (I finished the game with six). So you should have a balanced party. Two good warriors, two good archers, combat mage and nature mage. People you meet will have 'set' stats, so you can decide what they should be. As you work on these skills, your abilities will increase in that field and your characters will be able to use much more powerful spells, weapons, and armor.

When I say DS offers you freedom, it does. You can make a warrior/mage, or warrior/archer, or hell all four if you want. You aren't restricted to what you want to be, however, if you decide to do this late in the game, you ARE restricted to what you are allowed to use and equip or cast. Basically stick with what you want. On a sad note though, some of DS abilities (even if you stay dedicated to one thing) you won't be able to use. For example I was level 29 combat mage and I found a spell that was lv 34 required. This was on the last level. Also, once an enemy is dead, you cannot wait til they regen. So you can't stick around work on your abilities (like you could on Diablo).

Unlike Diablo, weapons/armor do not have durability stat. So your weapons will never break nor your armor. Potion system is similar to that of Diablo's. The auto AI is pretty good and characters will cast the appropriate spells (even healing spells), however, you still must tell your characters to drink potions (which isn't really cumbersome, but sometimes one tends to forget). DS is pretty straight forward. It is a LONG LONG walk to the last boss. Perhaps the longest is the swamp. Camera angles is well done. So is sound. Buying armor and weapons most of the time isn't required because you find better gear on the ground. If you liked Diablo 1/2, check on DS. I think you'll like it. DS's expansion pak is very similar to DS. Although, I am not sure if its a TRUE expansion pak. The EP is three CD's. The first two is DS and the third CD is the EP. It's odd that it comes this way, as if you just bought two games in one. The EP adds a shared potion feature, a few new spells, a world map, a backpack feature (you can carry more items now), and an improved AI. And unlike the last time, I was able to use ALL my abilities.

Graphics: 0.800/1.000: (Very crisp and clear. Some more detail could be done though, but not as gloomy as Diablo)

Sound: 0.900/1.000: (Great sound. Everything blends well with the game)

Control: 0.700/1.000: (Click and point. However if you want all your characters to attack the same monster, they all must be highlighted. If you want run away, you need to be sure you don't accidentally click on one of your characters or they'll zoom on him/her)

Storyline: 0.600/1.000: (Very straight forward and objective.)

Gameplay: 0.800/1.000: (I enjoyed DS overall. It was a good adventure game. It's also good multiplayer wise.)

Totals: 3.800/5.000
