I’ve waited a good long time for another Mario Kart to come out. I had to suffering wait (while being teased at the same time) for Christmas to come on by. MKDD lives up to the 64 counter part. Those who loved MK64, will love MKDD! In most aspects, MKDD is no different than MK64. MKDD! has a lot more eye candy to look around. The graphics are excellent. Control is done the same (except for Z is now use to swap your racers). Sound is more upbeat and awaking compared to MK64.

Unlike in MK64, in Double Dash you have two characters in the same car. This doesn’t really innovate anything, because the feel and the look is just like the previous MK’s. The front person drives while the person in the rear tosses the items at the rival drivers. This does improve the number items you can carry, but this does not make the game any easier. The computer, just like MK64, can be just as aggressive on the track. In MKDD they can be slightly more aggressive (perhaps too aggressive sometimes). MKDD offers the two new battle modes, a mirror mode, and all cup mode (you race all the courses at random).

MKDD also offers a huge LAN play ability. Here, you can hook up two game cubes at once and play up to 8 players. The big downside of this, however, is that your racer is chosen at random. It would have been nice to offer the option of randomly picking a character, and not be forced to be someone. MKDD has many characters to choose from. Each of these characters has their own ‘special item’. Bowser/Baby Bowser can throw a HUGE shell at you, Mario/Luigi can throw fireballs, and Toad/Toadette can get a super booster. (Etc Etc). MKDD has many courses, and perhaps the only negative thing I can hit MKDD with is there should be more courses. For some reason 16 tracks doesn’t feel “enough” seeing how long it took for MK to debut on the cube. In any case, the long await is over. Get MK: Double Dash. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Storyline: 1.000/1.000: (Ain’t much of a story, so how can I get rate this?)
Gameplay: 0.800/1.000: (The game may fall short in some areas, but it offers a lot if you have friends around.)
