Doom 3 is the latest in the Doom series. It has been a long while since I've played a Doom game. While I haven't beaten this game yet, I can give you my personal experience of what I've thought of the game. Doom 3 is well done in many aspects but fall short in one aspect many players won't like (and those who just got have it maxed up so damn badly), it's graphics/system requirements. Doom 3 requires a hefty computer to run.

My machine is a 1.8 ghz Athlon, with half a gig RAM, and a Radeon 9000 card. Sadly, my card is not up to date and I lack the funds to get a new card at this time. I'm not a hardcore gamer when it comes to computers, so I haven't been urged to get a new video card. I'm not getting a new video card just to make Doom 3 happy. Even on the standard $200-300 video cards, Doom 3 will still not be optimized. If you want to get the 101% quality out of this game, you'll need to buy one of the new bad ass cards. These cards go over $500! Unless your rich, is a game really worth $550?? ($50 for the game). I think not. The game will run at OK quality with a 9800 but still will give slide show issues.

Other than this aspect, Doom 3 is very well done in control, sound, story, and gameplay. After playing the first few objectives, it feels like a rehash of the first Doom. You are a lone marine (just like the first Doom) on Mars. Something goes bad....very bad. You are given a list of objectives throughout the game. The environment of this game is well...scary. Don't play this game at night. Just like in the first Doom, stuff will JUMP at you. If your easy to scare (like me...sometimes :P), you might get distracted and get hit quite badly.
The game is presented in a very dark like fashion. This is somewhat repeatable and you have to use your flashlight. If gameplay continues like this on me, it will get too repetitive and might get boring. Still Doom 3 is a great FPS game. Foes offer a good challenge. While I have not yet encountered a boss in this game, the difficulty is very decent. Upon finishing the game, the game unlocks the ever so classic NIGHTMARE mode. Which, I don't think I'm going to even try.

Doom 3 offers one new feature and that's the PDA. Which displays audio logs you find, emails, and your list of objectives. Doom 3 also offers another feature and that's the quick save/quick load function. Due the game being highly graphical, load times are long. The game doesn't offer a lot of music, but sounds etc (what's that noise?!) will keep you on your toes. This game can be a big let down and big let up to gaming fans. If your computer doesn't have a 9800 or better expect lower quailtiy. However, if your not a nick pick about graphics, then you will enjoy Doom 3. I'm not nick picky, so even low quality or even medium quality will satisfy my tastes. (I'm easy to please usually, heh). That sums this review of Doom 3.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Graphics 1.000/1.000: (Awesome graphics...just my puter doesn't have enuff bawls to run it at the power) :(

Sound: .700/1.000: (Good sound though not much music in the game)

Control: .800/1.000: (Takes a bit of learning in this game since they're are new features installed but pretty much what you expect from a first person shooter, Reloading is one new feature too to Doom 3)

Storyline: .700/1.000: (The storyline presents itself as you play)

Gameplay: .500/1.000: (This split down the center. Those who need that graphical beauty and those who don't. Doom 3's weakest aspect is it's hefty requirements. I'm not perfect! :()
